Clinical Meets Functional: A Dual Perspective in Treating Chronic Foot Pathology

Do you know when to treat functionally versus when it may be necessary to refer out??

The human foot is a fascinatingly complex and powerful aspect of human function and performance, but what happens when this important structure begins to break down. What happens when the corrective exercise and an integrated approach isn't providing results?

Join Drs Courtney Conley & Emily Splichal as they dive into 11 hours of content to address these difficult and chronic foot presentations.

Video #1 - Foundations in Foot Function

Join Dr Splichal as she reviews foundational concepts in foot anatomy and biomechanics. This video will lay the foundation to all other parts of this series and is a good review for any practitioner.

Video #2 - Advanced Functional Foot Concepts

This video kicks off with key concepts of foot function from an integrated perspective. Get those questions answered as it relates to the difference between mid foot vs. rear foot pronation, forefoot vs. toe splay, ankle plantar and dorsiflexion - and the the great toe and gait.

Video #3 - The Chronic Forefoot

Juvenile hallux valgus, rigid hammertoes, crossover 2nd, neuromas and sesamoiditis - all hot topics as it relates to feet, function and footwear. Surgery vs. therapy, which is best for each condition? Understand the dual perspectives for when these forefoot imbalances become chronic.

Video # 4 - The Chronic Midfoot

Part 4 continues up the foot as we enter the area of the longitudinal arches. We have posterior tibial function to the medial side and peroneal function to the lateral. Expand your understanding of the 4 stages of PTTD, top of foot pain, cuboid syndrome plus more!

Video #5 - The Chronic Rearfoot

We wrap up this series with the most commonly presented imbalances of the foot and ankle - plantar fasciosis, Achilles tendinopathy and chronic ankle instability. Learn the role of correct exercise and when Conley decides to refer to Splichal for regenerative medicine or surgical consideration.

All 4 parts of this series will bring you the unique perspective of Dr Emily + Dr Courtney and empower you, the listener, to better understand what to do in these more complex chronic cases.
