Clinical Meets Functional: A Dual Perspective to Addressing Chronic Foot Pathology

In this online course you will learn

strategies to navigate the gray areas of chronic foot pathology. When are we able to treat from a functional perspective? When is it necessary to refer out for next steps.

Join Drs Courtney Conley & Emily Splichal as they dive into 11 hours of content to address these difficult and chronic foot presentations.

The chapters of this online course include

  • Foundations in Foot Function
Join Dr Splichal as she reviews foundational concepts in foot anatomy and biomechanics. This video will lay the foundation to all other parts of this series and is a good review for any practitioner.

  • Advanced Functional Foot Concepts
Key concepts of foot function from an integrated perspective. Get those questions answered as it relates to the difference between mid foot vs. rear foot pronation, forefoot vs. toe splay, ankle plantar and dorsiflexion - and the the great toe and gait.

  • The Chronic Forefoot
Juvenile hallux valgus, rigid hammertoes, crossover 2nd, neuromas and sesamoiditis - all hot topics as it relates to feet, function and footwear. Surgery vs. therapy, which is best for each condition? Understand the dual perspectives for when these forefoot imbalances become chronic.

  • The Chronic Midfoot
We enter the area of the longitudinal arches. We have posterior tibial function to the medial side and peroneal function to the lateral. Expand your understanding of the 4 stages of PTTD, top of foot pain, cuboid syndrome plus more!

  • The Chronic Rearfoot
We wrap up this series with the most commonly presented imbalances of the foot and ankle - plantar fasciosis, Achilles tendinopathy and chronic ankle instability.
